Her academic qualifications:
- MSc in Anthropology
Cecilie's research centers on the anthropological examination of refugee experiences, particularly trajectories through encampment within the Danish asylum system. She investigates how these journeys shape refugees' perceptions of their past, present, and future, employing ethnographic methods to uncover the social and psychological dimensions of prolonged detention. Her work critically engages with concepts of carcerality and mobility in migration contexts, emphasizing the lived realities of refugees navigating institutional barriers.
Analysis of her publications from 2017 to 2022 reveals a strong interdisciplinary trajectory bridging anthropology, migration studies, and carceral studies. Her work spans ethnographic investigations of Danish asylum camps and maritime decision support systems, consistently highlighting themes of refugee agency, socio-economic impacts of asylum policies, and the psychological consequences of encampment. The research demonstrates methodological rigor through direct field engagement with vulnerable populations.
She is an active member of the Carceral Mobility Project (CAMP) at the Centre for Advanced Migration Studies (AMIS), collaborating on research that examines the intersections of migration control and carceral systems in Denmark, with particular attention to how institutional structures shape migrant subjectivities and futures.
