Cecilia Piantanida is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick’s Faculty of Arts, specializing in Italian language and literature. Her research explores modern and contemporary Italian literature through comparative and transnational lenses, focusing on voice, agency, and classical reception. She previously taught at Oxford and Durham Universities.

Her research interests include narratives of migration, transnational subjectivity, classical reception in Italian poetry, and the intersection of generative AI with creativity and authorship. She co-edited Echoing Voices in Italian Literature (2018) and is currently co-editing Behind the Text and Transnational Teaching in modern languages.
Piantanida’s recent publications analyze Mediterranean migration in visual culture and literature, and she has contributed to the Cambridge Companion to Sappho (2021). She leads pedagogical innovations in AI integration and intercultural teaching practices.
