Cecilia Lenander is an Associate Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University's Faculty of Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Medicine. Her academic work focuses on primary healthcare, cardiovascular medicine, and medication safety, with significant contributions to understanding the relationship between lifestyle factors and cardiovascular health.
Her research interests span multiple critical areas of modern healthcare including cardiovascular risk assessment using metrics like Life's Essential 8, primary medical care for patients across different age groups, and medication safety issues particularly related to substandard and falsified medical products. She investigates how psychological factors, pregnancy outcomes, and medication management impact long-term cardiovascular health, with a special focus on middle-aged populations.
Dr. Lenander's recent publications reveal strong trends in population-based cardiovascular research, particularly through the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS), examining the connections between lifestyle factors, psychological elements, and cardiovascular outcomes. Her work bridges clinical medicine, public health, and pharmaceutical sciences, creating interdisciplinary approaches to preventive healthcare.
She has received research funding from the Swedish Research Council and other sources to investigate medication reviews for people with dementia, prevention of medication-related problems, and identification of medication issues across different healthcare providers. Her projects often take a multiprofessional approach to improve medication safety and effectiveness.
Dr. Lenander actively engages with the public through invited talks, podcasts, and seminars on health topics including antibiotic resistance and future healthcare challenges, demonstrating her commitment to translating research into public understanding.
