معرفی
Prof. Cecile van Els is a Professor of Vaccinology: Correlates of Protection at Utrecht University's Veterinary Medicine Department, within the Biomolecular Health Sciences division. Her work focuses on understanding immune responses to develop effective vaccines against emerging infectious diseases in humans and animals. She holds a PhD from Leiden University (1990) in transplant immunology and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
Education:
- Bachelor/Master in Medical Biology, Utrecht University
- PhD in Transplant Immunology, Leiden University (1990)
Research Interests:
Van Els investigates the immune response chain, particularly correlates of protection for vaccines targeting diseases like measles, influenza, tuberculosis, pertussis, and pneumococcal infections. She co-invented a nano-proteomics platform at the Netherlands Vaccine Institute and contributed to strategic vaccine research at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Her work addresses global health challenges exacerbated by urbanization and climate change.
Professional Activities:
- Advisor to the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (unremunerated)
- Immunologist at RIVM (remunerated)
Research Hub: Part of the Utrecht Molecular Immunology Hub, focusing on translational immunology research.
