Cecile Brion

Cecile Brion is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Studies at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne. She holds a Doctorate in English Linguistics (2004) and has been actively involved in research on syntax, semantics, and phonetics. Her work focuses on prepositional structures, verb rection, and language pedagogy. Brion has organized major conferences like Nom et verbe: Catégorisation et référence (2001) and co-edited the proceedings of these events. She has also authored pedagogical works such as La grammaire de l’anglais (2006) and contributed to textbook series like Shortcuts.

Education: Baccalaureate (1989), BA in English (1992), MA in Linguistics (1993), DEA (1997), PhD (2004). She passed both CAPES and Agrégation teaching competitions (1995). Academic qualifications include dual membership in CNU sections 7 and 11 (2005).

Research interests span English syntax-semantics interface, particularly verb-preposition interactions, and applied linguistics in language teaching. Her publications address phrasal verbs, phonetic instruction methodologies, and intercomprehension in European languages. She has served as Department Head of English Studies (2007–2011), led UFR LSH finance committees, and participated in national academic recruitment panels.

Teaching activities include phonetics courses, linguistics preparation for competitive exams, and master's-level instruction on second language acquisition. She organized annual student trips to London’s Globe Theatre and managed teacher training programs for pronunciation correction. Active in academic governance, she contributed to curriculum development and student advising systems.
