Cathy Neimetz, Ph.D., serves as Associate Professor and Chair of Graduate Education Programs within Eastern University's College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, a position she has held since joining the institution in 2008. She specializes in Early Childhood Education and teaches across undergraduate, graduate, and accelerated programs while directing the Early Childhood Education curriculum.
Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she gained practical experience through:
- Research assistantship with the SPECS evaluation team assessing early care quality in low-income communities
- Developmental healthcare consultancy for the HealthyChild program advising teachers on classroom social-emotional climate improvement
Dr. Neimetz's research integrates cross-cultural caregiving analysis with rigorous program evaluation, demonstrated through projects like assessing PNC's 'Grow up Great' literacy initiative for Early Head Start students and evaluating caregiver behavior changes after 'Mind in the Making' training modules. Her doctoral dissertation on caregiving culture in a Northeastern Chinese faith-based orphanage underscores her commitment to culturally responsive early childhood practices.
As program director, she shapes academic curriculum while maintaining active community engagement through consultation services for early care providers. Her work consistently bridges theoretical research with practical classroom applications in early childhood settings.
