Dr. Cathy Day is a Research Fellow at the Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health and its Epidemiology for Policy and Practice Group. Her work spans cardiovascular disease, tobacco control, person-centred outcomes in cancer survivors, and historical demography.
- PhD in Biological Anthropology (2012), focusing on 19th-century marriage patterns in Southwest England.
- Masters in Applied Linguistics (2005-2012).
Her research bridges modern epidemiology with historical social structures, emphasizing geographical mobility, cousin marriage, and illegitimacy. She has pioneered online education, co-developing ANU's MOOCs like Engaging India (2014) and Ignorance! (2015, 2017), and created online lessons for POPH8100 Fundamentals of Epidemiology. Collaborative animations with Dr. Erin Walsh earned teaching awards.
