Cathleen Bennett is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa College of Law, specializing in public defense advocacy. She serves as a trial lawyer in the Public Defender Division of Massachusetts, representing indigent clients in state criminal courts. Her professional affiliations include roles at the National Criminal Defense College and Gideon’s Promise (formerly the Southern Public Defender Training Center), where she trains public defenders nationwide. During Fall 2021, she instructed the course 'Client-Centered Public Defense Advocacy' at Iowa Law.
Her expertise focuses on trial advocacy, criminal defense strategies, and legal ethics. Bennett’s work emphasizes client-centered approaches in public defense, reflecting her commitment to equitable justice systems.
