Catherine van der List

Catherine van der List is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Economics at the University of Essex and a research affiliate at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). She joined the University of Essex in September 2023 and became a Junior Research Affiliate at IWH in September 2024.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on labor economics, public economics, and urban economics, with particular emphasis on imperfect local labor markets and place-based policies. This includes analyzing regional disparities in labor market outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness of spatially targeted economic interventions.
