Catherine Wolfram is the William Barton Rogers Professor in Energy and Professor of Applied Economics at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She previously held the Cora Jane Flood Professorship at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Climate and Energy Economics at the U.S. Treasury (2021-2022). She has also been a Program Director at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a researcher at Harvard.

Her research focuses on energy markets, climate policy, and trade intersections, including EU carbon border adjustments, methane regulation, and Russian oil price caps. She advocates for modern carbon pricing frameworks.
Recent publications explore digital collateral in energy economics, strategic climate cooperation, and voltage quality improvements in Ghana. Awards include election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2025).
