Catherine Rottenberg is a Professor in the Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. Previously, she held faculty positions in the Department of American and Canadian Studies at the University of Nottingham. Her research critically examines the intersections of feminism and neoliberalism, with a focus on governance, power structures, and the politics of care. She has published widely on gender, media, and cultural studies, including works like The Rise of Neoliberal Feminism and the edited volume This is Not a Feminism Textbook.
Her current research explores the heightened visibility of menopause in UK and US culture, interrogating how neoliberal frameworks shape discourse around gendered embodiment and workplace management. Key publications include analyses of media representations of menopause, feminist solidarity movements, and critiques of neoliberal caregiving paradigms.
Rottenberg’s work emphasizes cultivating social justice through a politics of care, challenging dominant narratives of human rights and advocating for interdependent, abolitionist frameworks. She collaborates with the Care Collective and has co-authored The Care Manifesto, advocating for radical reimaginings of care in societal structures.
