Catherine Hubka

Catherine Hubka serves as an Instructor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of New Mexico, based in Humanities 319 with contact email chubka@unm.edu.

Her creative scholarship focuses on Creative Nonfiction through the dual lenses of regionalism and subject-place relationships. She investigates profound themes of grief, loss, recovery, and hope within postmodern Southwest contexts, currently producing memoir and poetry that challenges conventional regional narratives. Her work emphasizes intimate human experiences over broad cultural stereotypes.

As an active practitioner, Hubka integrates her parallel career as a film and theater actor into her literary perspective, creating multidimensional approaches to narrative construction. Her teaching prioritizes undergraduate creative writing development with emphasis on personal voice and place-based storytelling.
