Dr. Catherine Hastings is an Adjunct Fellow in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University and a Research Fellow specializing in interdisciplinary research on social justice and inequality. Her work focuses on understanding social justice issues while developing policy and program responses for social change.
Her research examines legal needs assessment, causes of homelessness for families and older women, and international student financial and housing precarity. Current research investigates how legal needs develop for marginalized populations in Australia, informed by critical realism philosophy.
Dr. Hastings was awarded the Macquarie University Research Fellowship to support her investigation of legal needs among disadvantaged communities in Australia.
