Catherine Gunzenhauser

Professor Catherine Gunzenhauser serves as Director of the Institute of Psychology at Ludwigsburg University of Education. Professor Gunzenhauser's primary research focuses on child development, particularly the intersection of emotional competencies and language acquisition. Her work examines how these factors influence children's adaptation to school environments and their behavioral patterns.

Professor Gunzenhauser leads two major research projects:

• KEeKS: Child Development of Emotional Competencies and Language (funded by the German Research Foundation). This project investigates connections between emotional and language development in childhood, with particular focus on emotion-specific language skills and their role in emotional regulation.
• ElKi: Parents and Children Master School Enrollment. This study supports families during the transition from kindergarten to school, examining how home conditions affect children's adaptation to school curricula and social environments. The ElKi: TiK sub-study specifically focuses on children who frequently experience strong emotions.

Professor Gunzenhauser collaborates with researchers from several institutions:
