Catherine Easton is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise and Sports Sciences at Charles Sturt University, with a focus on Speech-Language Pathology and community-based healthcare research. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from La Trobe University (2008) and additional qualifications in university leadership and teaching. Her research explores communication accessibility, cultural responsiveness in healthcare, and workforce development in speech-language pathology, particularly in under-resourced regions like Papua New Guinea and Cambodia. She is an active supervisor for honors students and has led initiatives to integrate telehealth into clinical education. Easton has received multiple university awards for teaching excellence and social responsibility, including the 2021 Executive Dean’s Teaching Award and 2023 Social Responsibility Award.
Her academic work spans linguistic anthropology, special education advocacy, and global health equity. Notable contributions include participatory orthography development frameworks in PNG and studies on caregiver experiences for children with communication disabilities. She has co-authored over 35 research outputs since 2003, focusing on community participation dynamics and clinical practice improvements in multicultural contexts.
