Catherine Crump

Catherine Crump is the Robert Glushko Clinical Professor of Practice in Technology Law at UC Berkeley School of Law. She directs the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic and co-directs the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology. Her work focuses on civil liberties in the context of emerging technologies, government surveillance, privacy, and criminal justice reform.

Research Interests: Professor Crump explores the intersection of law with technology, national security, and civil liberties. She advocates for transparency and accountability in policing and surveillance, often combining litigation (e.g., landmark ACLU cases on electronic surveillance) with policy advocacy at federal and state levels.
