Catherine Chang is an Assistant Professor of History at Winthrop University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Southern California. With prior teaching experience at institutions including Pasadena City College and UC Santa Cruz, she teaches courses such as 'World Civilizations', 'Modern China', 'Women in China', and 'Chinese Ethical Thought'.
Her research examines women's social networks in modern China, Confucian ethics, and cultural transmission. Current projects analyze how Chinese women negotiated family ethics during Qing and Republican eras. Published works include a chapter in The Constant and Changing Faces of the Goddess exploring the development of vegetarian nun communities.
