Catherine Ceniza Choy is a Professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. A leading Asian American historian, her work intersects migration, gender, nursing, and trans-Pacific studies. She has served in multiple administrative roles, including former Department Chair (2012-2015, 2018-2019), Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies Division (2019-2021), and Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice in the Division of Computing, Data Science, and Society (2021-2023).

Her research focuses on violence, erasure, and resistance in Asian migration and community formation, with notable work on Filipino nurses’ disproportionate impact during the pandemic.
