معرفی
Catherine Campbell is a Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University's Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) and currently teaches Introduction to Bioinformatics. She serves as the senior executive scientist at DCE Consulting, with two decades of expertise in bioinformatics and bench research in molecular biology and microbiology. Dr. Campbell earned her BS in microbiology from Cornell University, MS/PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Miami, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Dr. Campbell’s research centers on integrating bioinformatics with laboratory experiments to analyze human and animal diseases, particularly focusing on host-pathogen interactions, viral infections (VEEV, RVFV, Junin), and complex neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis and neurofibromatosis. She has developed informatics tools for biodefense and high-throughput -omics data integration, emphasizing computational modeling of disease mechanisms.
Her scientific achievements include a DTRA grant (HDTRA1-13-1-0006) to study select agent viruses. She has designed and taught courses in biology, marine biology, and bioinformatics for over two decades at undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education levels. Her work bridges computational analysis with experimental validation across clinical and basic science collaborations.
