Catherine Burke is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the School of Health and Social Care within the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. She holds qualifications including RGN, RMDip, BMed Sci (Hons), MPh, and PGCert HE. Her work focuses on empowering vulnerable families and improving maternal care for marginalized communities. She leads the Advanced Clinical Practice in Midwifery program and teaches across BSc and MSc nursing and midwifery courses.

Research Interests:
Dr. Burke’s research emphasizes culturally sensitive midwifery care for migrant and refugee populations, particularly through the EU-funded ORAMMA project. She advocates for trauma-informed and culturally competent practices, as seen in her development of the T-CC Care training program. Her work addresses health inequities faced by pregnant migrant women and explores the lived experiences of student midwives from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
