Catherine Bollard

Catherine Bollard, M.B.Ch.B., M.D., is Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine (Secondary) at George Washington University. She serves as Interim Senior Vice President and Chief Research Officer, Associate Center Director for Translational Research and Innovation at GW Cancer Center, Director of the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research at Children’s National Research Institute, and Director of the Program for Cell Enhancement and Technologies for Immunotherapy. Her primary research focuses on developing adoptive cell therapies for cancer and inflammatory diseases.

Her research interests center on:

• Immunotherapy approaches for pediatric and adult cancers
• Stem cell and cord blood transplantation optimization
• Viral infection targeting in immunocompromised patients
• Cell and gene therapies for immune deficiencies
• Reducing relapse and infectious complications post-transplant

Dr. Bollard holds significant leadership positions including:

• President, Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)
• Past President, International Society of Cellular Therapy
• Associate Editor for Blood (2014-2020)
• Editor-in-Chief of Blood Advances (2021-present)

She has maintained continuous NIH funding for over a decade and directs multiple research programs focused on cancer immunology.
