Catherine Bevier

Catherine Bevier is the Oak Professor of Biology and Chair of the African-American Studies Department at Colby College. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University (1989) and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Connecticut (1995).

Research Focus: Dr. Bevier's work bridges animal behavior, physiological ecology, and conservation biology. Her research emphasizes amphibian conservation, particularly the interplay between skin secretions, antimicrobial properties, epibiotic bacteria, and chytrid fungus. She also explores behavioral energetics and vocalization patterns in anurans using passive acoustic monitoring.
