Catherine Berrier is a Professor of Biology at Université Paris-Saclay, with a primary affiliation at the Faculty of Sciences of Orsay. She serves as the leader of the 1st-year Master’s degree in Teaching, Education and Training Professions (MEEF) for the Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) path across the entire Versailles Academy. Her career spans teaching, research, and administrative leadership in education.

Catherine Berrier’s research journey transitioned from fundamental studies on bacterial ion channels to interdisciplinary work in neuroscience. Her early work focused on:
- Mechanosensitive ion channels in prokaryotic/eukaryotic systems
- Electrophysiological characterization of bacterial osmoregulation
- Lipid membrane reconstitution techniques
In 2009-2014, her research expanded to:
- Structural/functional analysis of neuronal glutamate receptors
- Synaptic transmission mechanisms
- G protein-coupled receptor studies
She later prioritized educational leadership over research due to time constraints.
Educational Leadership
As head of teacher training at Orsay and Deputy Director for Education Graduate School, she:
