Catherine Barrett is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Worcester, within the School of Health and Wellbeing's Department of Allied Health. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Manchester (1998), an MSc in Advanced Neurological Physiotherapy from University College London (2006), and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education Practice from Bournemouth University (2009).
Her teaching focuses on neurology, rehabilitation, and foundational sciences for physiotherapy. In the 2022/23 academic year, she leads the Foundation Sciences for Physiotherapy (Year 1) module and co-leads Guiding Principles of Physiotherapy Practice (Year 1). She contributes to neurology and rehabilitation teaching across BSc and MSc programs, and oversees Year 2 students, admissions, and placement support as a zoned academic (ZA) and personal tutor (PAT).
Catherine's clinical career spans over 25 years, specializing in neurological rehabilitation. She worked at the National Clinical FES Centre in Salisbury (2003–2007), researching FES applications for MS patients and training healthcare professionals. Later roles included community neurological rehabilitation for deteriorating conditions like motor neurone disease and MS. She returned to academia in 2022, leveraging her diverse clinical experience to inform teaching.
