Dr. Catheline B. Nyabwengi is a Researcher at the University of Bayreuth's Department of African History within the Faculty of Cultural Studies. Her work focuses on African history with a special emphasis on women’s roles in violence and terrorism in East Africa. She completed her doctoral studies under Prof. Joël Glasman by February 2019, with a thesis titled 'Trends of Women's Participation in Violence in Kenya, 1952–2019.'
Previous roles include:
- 2018–2019: Lecturer at Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology (Nairobi, Kenya)
- 2015–2017: Research Assistant at Kenyatta University (Nairobi)
- 2015–2016: Research Assistant at Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR) collaborating with the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) in Nairobi
Her research interests also include conflict prevention and mediation, as evidenced by her membership in the Network of African Women in Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FemWise-Africa). She holds a Bachelor's degree in History and Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies (CRE) from Kenyatta University (2010–2014).
