Caterina Signoretto-Dep is an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostics and Public Health at the University of Verona. She holds roles such as Department Director and member of the Faculty Board of PhD in Applied Life and Health Sciences. Her research focuses on microbiology, clinical microbiology, and antimicrobial activity of natural substances. Key projects include the NUTRIDENT EU-funded study on polyphenols in oral health and investigations into bacterial reservoirs in cystic fibrosis patients.
Teaching spans multiple programs: she instructs microbiology modules in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, Nursing, Dental Hygiene, and Dentistry. Courses include Microbiologia Clinica, MICROBIOLOGIA E M. CLINICA, and research internships. Her expertise extends to viral infections (HBV, HCV, HIV, HCMV) and emerging pathogens like Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
She collaborates with research centers like Lurm (Laboratorio Universitario di Ricerca Medica) and CERC (Caring Education Research Center). Current studies address human/environmental reservoirs of pathogens in cystic fibrosis, supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
