Caterina ROMANO is an Associate Professor of Greek History at the University of Salento, affiliated with the Department of Cultural Heritage (Dipartimento di Beni Culturali) within the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. She holds a PhD in Greek History from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and has conducted post-doctoral research on Cultural and Archaeological Heritage. Her academic career includes roles as a Researcher since 2001 and involvement in teaching and scholarly activities across multiple academic cycles.
Research and Teaching Focus: Her expertise centers on Greek History, Ancient Political Institutions, and Mediterranean antiquity. She teaches Greek History (12 CFU) in the undergraduate program and has contributed to courses on Political Institutions of Classical Greece. She has also served as a guarantor for the Degree Course in Political Science and International Relations (2001–2011) and participated in the PhD program 'Ancient History: Sources, Tools, and Methodologies.'
Administrative and Editorial Roles: She is a member of the Scientific Committee and Editorial Board of Studies of Antiquity, and has held roles in academic governance, including teaching responsibilities in interdisciplinary initiatives like SOFT (Scuola di Formazione Permanente). Her work integrates classical philology, archaeology, and historical analysis of ancient political structures.
