Catarina Marvão

Catarina Marvão is an Assistant Professor at the UCD School of Business (Banking & Finance) and an Affiliated Professor of Economics at Technological University Dublin (City). She also holds affiliations with the Stockholm School of Economics (SITE) and serves as a non-governmental advisor to the International Competition Network (ICN), a research affiliate with the Central Bank of Ireland, and Co-Chair of CRIEI (Competition and Regulation Industrial Economics Ireland).

Marvão holds a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin and Johns Hopkins University (2013), and a Double M.Sc. in Economics from Université Catholique de Louvain and Católica Lisbon (2009). Her research focuses on industrial organization, finance, and antitrust applications, particularly cartel recidivism, banking infringements, and managerial incentives. She has been funded by the Swedish Competition Authority (KKV), the Irish Research Council, Enterprise Ireland, and the Wenner-Gren Foundation.

Awards include T.U.Dublin's Established Career Award (2023) and the Rising Star in Academia (2023). Her work bridges academia and policy, with collaborations extending to regulators like the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), and Portuguese Water and Waste Regulator (ERSAR).
