Caroline Castera-Ducros is a Senior Lecturer at Aix-Marseille University, affiliated with the Radical Pharmacochemistry (PCR) Team. Her research focuses on anti-infectious pharmacomodulation in the 3-nitroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine series, targeting kinetoplastid pathogens causing neglected tropical diseases such as human African trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis. She employs pallado-catalyzed couplings (Suzuki-Miyaura, Sonogashira, Buchwald) and nucleophilic substitution reactions for molecular synthesis, followed by biological, cytotoxicity, mutagenicity, and pharmacokinetic evaluations.
