Cassandra Uthoff

Cassandra Uthoff is a PhD student at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in the Molecular Toxicology department's Microbiome Biology Group. Since 2021, she has been investigating:

• Gut-brain axis interactions in honeybees through multi-omics approaches
• Microbiota depletion effects on neural function and behavioral ecology
• Antibiotic/pesticide impacts on gut microbial composition and metabolic activity

Her work combines proteomics and metabolomics with hive behavior monitoring across projects like:

• SafePol (2025): Safeguarding pollinators under multifunctional land-use stresses
• MibiTox (2020): Microbiome-biomarker integration for toxicology

Key trends in her publications include pollinator health, environmental stress responses, and multi-omics data integration. She contributes to UFZ's computational tools like the multiGSEA pathway analysis and ProteinPrompt interaction predictions.
