Cassandra Bell is an Instructor of Biology and Biology Teacher Education Supervisor at Winthrop University's College of Arts and Sciences. She coordinates BIOL 150/151 non-major biology courses and teaches Honors sections. She oversees the Biology Teacher Education Program, advising and supervising teacher candidates.
Education: M.S. Biology (Winthrop University), B.S. Marine Science (University of South Carolina), S.C. Secondary Science Teaching Certification (Converse College).
Research & Professional Focus: Specializes in science education pedagogy, ecology/evolution, and Loggerhead Sea Turtle hatchling sex ratio studies. Currently directs Winthrop's NSF-funded WISE (Initiative for STEM Education) program, supporting science/math teacher candidates through scholarships and mentorship. Previously taught high school science at Fort Mill High School and worked as a research technician at the Savannah River Ecology Lab.
