Casey Olm-Shipman

Casey Olm-Shipman, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the UNC School of Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She serves as the Medical Director for the UNC Medical Center Neuroscience ICU, Vice Chair of Quality Improvement in the Department of Neurology, and Associate Director of the UNC Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement.

Research Interests focus on neurocritical care, stroke management, pharmacokinetics in neurological disorders, and healthcare quality improvement initiatives. Her recent publications analyze pandemic impacts on neurocritical care, renal clearance dynamics in hemorrhagic stroke, and antibiotic pharmacokinetics in ICU settings.

Publication Trends span 2004-2022, with key contributions in: (1) Global health crisis adaptation (2022), (2) Stroke pharmacokinetics (2016, 2019), and (3) Long-term tobacco cessation strategies in schizophrenia (2004, 2005).

Clinical Practice includes neurointensivist roles at UNC Hospitals and the UNC Hospitals Children's Neurology Clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. She is board-certified in Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology.
