Casandra Salgado

Casandra Salgado is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Arizona State University (ASU), affiliated with The Sanford School and the Institute for Social Science Research. Her research focuses on race and ethnicity, immigration, and stratification, particularly among Latinx communities in the U.S. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA and a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley.

Research Interests: Dr. Salgado’s work examines how historical colonization and contemporary immigration policies shape racial inequalities. She employs interdisciplinary approaches to analyze intergroup relations and the evolution of racial ideologies.

Publications: Her work appears in Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, and Social Problems, among others. Recent articles explore settler colonial legacies in New Mexico, shifting racial schemas, and the intersection of generational status and educational outcomes.
