Dr. Abigail Rosas is an Associate Professor in the Chicano & Latino Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Previously, she served as Co-Director and Assistant Professor in the Ethnic Studies Program at California State University, Stanislaus. She holds a Ph.D. in American Studies and Ethnicity from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and Sociology from Stanford University. Her research examines African American-Latino community dynamics in South Central Los Angeles, emphasizing cross-racial solidarity amid systemic marginalization.
Her work has been supported by prestigious fellowships including postdoctoral roles at Rice University and UCLA, and Ford Foundation grants. Key publications include her 2019 Stanford University Press monograph, South Central Is Home, and contributions to Black and Brown in Los Angeles (2013) and The Struggle in Black and Brown (2011). She co-edited a special issue of Kalfou analyzing labor dynamics during the pandemic (2021).
