مدرس · Inclusion of neurodivergent staff in primary education
Queen Margaret University Edinburghمعرفی
Caryll Jack serves as a Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education within the Psychology, Sociology and Education Division at Queen Margaret University. Joining the QMU Education team in August 2021, Jack brings nearly a decade of classroom teaching experience from both mainstream and ASN (Severe and Complex Needs) educational provisions.
Jack's research interests center on educational inclusion practices, particularly focusing on neurodiversity within primary education settings. Their work examines the meaningful inclusion of neurodivergent staff and children in mainstream primary schools, support systems for teaching staff implementing GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child) frameworks, and the development of inclusive classroom environments that function as communities of practice.
With a strong commitment to community-connected education, Jack previously conducted action research on immersive learning for sustainability projects tied to local community issues identified by students. This work involved collaboration with various agencies across Scotland, reflecting their belief that education cannot exist in isolation from society.
Jack teaches and supervises dissertations across both the BA (Hons) Education Studies and BA (Hons) Education Studies (Primary) programmes at QMU, bringing practical classroom experience to their academic role.
Professional affiliations include full registration with the General Teaching Council of Scotland.
