Cary J. Mock is a Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of South Carolina, affiliated with the Environment and Sustainability Program and the Institute for Southern Studies. He joined the university in 1999 after postdoctoral and visiting roles at institutions like the University of Washington and the University of Massachusetts.
Education: Dr. Mock holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Oregon (1994), an M.S. from the University of Utah (1989), and a B.S. from the University of California, Davis (1986).
Research focuses on historical climatology, synoptic climatology, and paleoclimatology. He examines extreme weather events (hurricanes, snowstorms), climatic hazards, and long-term environmental changes.
