Cary Gross, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health at Yale School of Medicine, serving as Director of the Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center and the National Clinician Scholars Program. His work focuses on improving cancer care equity, comparative effectiveness, and health policy. He completed his MD at New York University School of Medicine, residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, and a fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Research interests include barriers to clinical trials, geriatric oncology, and policy impacts of cancer screening. He leads COPPER, a multidisciplinary team addressing cancer care disparities. Notable awards include the Yale Cancer Center Mentorship Excellence Award (2021) and election to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (2018).
His recent studies examine breast cancer screening trends, social contagion in cancer treatment practices, and the role of state policies in imaging modalities.
