Dr. Carter Smith is Associate Teaching Professor in the Writing Program at Wake Forest University's Department of English. He holds a PhD and MA from Washington University in St. Louis, an MFA from Texas State University, and a BA from Wake Forest University.
Research explores writing pedagogy, contemporary poetry, and aesthetic theory. Teaching includes WRI 111 courses (Adaptation, Rhetorics of Music, Reading the Voice), WRI 212 (Art of the Essay), and ENG 150 (Literary Production).
Publications include the poetry collection Rounds (2016) and critical work on Beckett in ELH (2012). Office location: ZSR 426D.
