Carry Renders

Carry Renders is a Full Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s Faculty of Science, Department of Health Sciences. She holds additional roles as Full Professor in APH - Health Behaviors & Chronic Diseases and APH - Societal Participation & Health. She was seconded to Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (2005-2022) as research coordinator and associate lector. She obtained her MSc from Radboud University (1995) and her PhD from VU Medical Center (2001).

Her research focuses on integrated community-based approaches to prevent childhood overweight and obesity, leveraging epidemiological methods, systems approaches, and qualitative techniques like focus groups. Key projects include evaluating interventions in schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces. Recent work addresses socioeconomic health inequalities and policy implementation.

Her publications emphasize realist evaluation, community capacity building, and systems thinking in public health. Notable projects include the 'Integrated Neighborhood Approach' and 'Charge your Brainzzz 2.0' sleep intervention. She collaborates on SDGs related to health and well-being.
