Carrie Ruth Ball

Carrie Ruth Ball is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the Bayh College of Education, Indiana State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is a licensed school psychologist with national and state certifications. Her work bridges research, practice, and policy in educational settings.

Research Interests: Dr. Ball's research focuses on school psychology, particularly in academic and behavioral assessment, reading interventions for at-risk students, supervision of trainees, and suicide prevention in schools. She is deeply involved in improving educational outcomes through evidence-based practices and assessment literacy.

Her recent publications highlight trends in hybrid training models in school psychology, academic screening tools, and mental health interventions in K–12 settings. The articles demonstrate a consistent focus on practical applications, student outcomes, and program evaluation in educational psychology.

Her leadership roles include Department Chair, Faculty Ombudsperson, and active participation in university governance.

She is involved in several labs and teams, including the Porter School Psychology Center, where she served as Clinical Supervisor, and research teams focused on reading interventions and mental health in schools. She also leads statewide initiatives through grant-funded projects.
