Carrie Fitzgerald is an Associate Professor at SUNY Fredonia, affiliated with the College of Education, Health Sciences, and Human Services. She teaches courses in Psychological Foundations of Education, focusing on child development, assessment, and child advocacy. She co-developed the Advanced Certificate Program in Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) and collaborated with the Zero Abuse Project to design child maltreatment curriculum for medical schools.

Her research centers on foster care, child maltreatment, trauma-sensitive schools, and systemic responses to child welfare. She has presented her work at conferences in China, Uruguay, and the Czech Republic. Dr. Fitzgerald is actively involved in professional organizations, including the Fulbright Specialist Roster, the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect (ISPCAN), and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC). She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates of New York (CASANYS).
