Carolyn Ponce is an Lecturer at Arkansas State University, affiliated with the Department of Music under the College of Liberal Arts and Communication and the School of Teacher Education and Leadership. She teaches courses in Fine Arts Music, History of Church Music, and Educational Philosophies.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. Candidate in Historical Musicology at the University of Memphis, TN, a S.C.C.T. in Music Education from Arkansas State University, an M.M. in Choral Conducting from Arkansas State University, and a B.A. in Vocal Performance from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Her research focuses on sacred polyphony of the Renaissance in Spain, Portugal, and the Vatican and 19th Century American culture and music, bridging historical musicology with cultural studies. She integrates these themes into her pedagogical approach, shaping her curriculum in music history and education.
