Carolyn Kent

Carolyn Kent is a Lecturer at the University of Cumbria since March 2019, transitioning from a career as a physiotherapist in private practice and elite sport. She specializes in football injuries and female athlete performance, recently preparing for the FIFA conference in Madrid. Her teaching includes modules on Assessment and Treatment in Physiotherapy, Exercise, and Musculoskeletal topics. She emphasizes the health benefits of exercise and actively supports student engagement through the Physiotherapy Society, organizing trips, talks, and student-led events like end-of-year balls.

Before academia, Kent earned an Exercise Science degree in South Carolina while on a football scholarship, later practicing in the NHS and elite football. She represents Scotland in football and footgolf, notably finishing 4th at a World Cup in footgolf. Her research interests bridge clinical practice and sports science, focusing on optimizing athlete health and performance.
