Carolyn Day

Carolyn Day is a Professor of Communication at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she has served since 2014. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of South Florida, an M.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge, and a B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration from the same institution.

Her research focuses on critical communication studies, particularly analyzing corporate rhetoric, sustainability practices, globalization, and the intersection of communication with social responsibility and management. She critiques how corporate discourses frame initiatives like shared value creation, exploring their implications for global cultural dynamics and governance.

Day has received multiple awards, including the Graduate Student Research Prize in Public Interest Communications (2014), top paper recognitions at USF and NCA conferences (2013–2012), and various scholarships and honors for academic excellence and leadership. Her work frequently addresses postcolonial critiques of corporate sustainability efforts and the performative aspects of legal and organizational communication.

In addition to her teaching and research, she has been involved with the Shared Value Initiative since 2013 and has presented at conferences such as the Academy of Management, National Communication Association, and Southern States Communication Association. Her earlier career includes teaching assistant roles at California State University, Northridge (2009–2010) and the University of South Florida (2011–2014).

Notable grants and scholarships include a China trip grant (2008) and the Richard B. Aronstam Scholarship (2010). She has also been an active member of professional organizations like the National Communication Association (2010–2015) and Toastmasters International (2005–2010).
