Carolyn Baker Ringel, JD, MBE is an Affiliate of the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School and a Consultant at Intent Clinical. She serves as a course instructor and capstone mentor within the Master of Science in Bioethics program, contributing to bioethics education and student development. Additionally, she holds service roles as a member of the Continuing Review IRB for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an elected Board of Library Trustees member for the Town of Dover, Massachusetts.
Her academic credentials include:

- JD from the University of Chicago Law School
- MBE from Harvard Medical School
Ms. Ringel's research focuses on Bioethics, with specialized expertise in Transgender Healthcare Ethics where she publishes personal reflections and ethical analyses drawn from her family's experience with her child's gender transition. Her work bridges Medical Ethics and Family Law Ethics, informed by prior roles as Legal Counsel for a Massachusetts State Senator and family law advocate at The Second Step domestic violence non-profit. She examines ethical dilemmas faced by parents, clinicians, and institutions interacting with transgender youth.
As a capstone mentor, she guides Master of Science in Bioethics students through research projects. Her community engagement extends to coaching parents of struggling teens and library governance, demonstrating applied ethics in both clinical and civic contexts.
