Carolyn Ashton is an Associate Professor and 4-H Youth Development specialist at Oregon State University's College of Health. With over 25 years of experience in Extension services across Oregon and Illinois, she currently administers the Benton County 4-H Youth Development Program, coordinating 200+ volunteers, 500 club members, and 2,500 school enrichment participants.
- Leads the Benton County 4-H Ambassadors (25 members) for youth advocacy
- Co-Advisor of Oregon State 4-H Ambassadors
- Active participant in Statewide 4-H Summer Conference
- County Liaison for Benton County Extension partnerships
Her research interests focus on older youth leadership development, healthy living initiatives, mentorship frameworks, and volunteer recruitment/retention strategies. She has contributed to curricular resources including:
- 4-H Food and Fun Nutrition Activity Curriculum
- 4-H Food and Fun Fitness Activity Curriculum
- A Youth Leadership Guide for 4-H Club Meetings
- 4-H Club Officer Handbook
Carolyn also engages in community-building efforts through collaborations with county government and local agencies. Outside work, she enjoys golfing, cycling, and baking.
