معرفی
Professor Caroline Rae is a distinguished academic at the University of New South Wales, Faculty of Medicine & Health, with a primary research appointment at Neuroscience Research Australia in Randwick. Her interdisciplinary research bridges neuroscience, neurochemistry, and advanced imaging techniques.
Her research interests focus on understanding how brain biochemistry underpins brain function, utilizing magnetic resonance technology both in vivo and in vitro. Key areas include neuroscience, neurochemistry, magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, metabolism, neuropsychology, neurology, and drug-related harm and addiction.
Professor Rae's extensive publication record includes 176 journal articles, 3 book chapters, and numerous conference presentations, reflecting her significant contributions to the understanding of brain function through advanced neuroimaging techniques. Her work spans both basic and applied research domains, with particular emphasis on sleep-disordered breathing, medical imaging, neuropharmacology, and brain function.
- Medal of The Australian and New Zealand Society for Magnetic Resonance (2017)
Professor Rae currently supervises PhD candidates including Jun Cao, who is researching electrical brain stimulation in mental health, and Abhijit Das, who is investigating amino acid homeostasis in brain cells. Her leadership extends to professional societies where she serves as President of the International Society for Neurochemistry (2023-2025) and previously as Secretary (2019-2023), and as former Company Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Magnetic Resonance (2006-2019).
