Caroline Logan, DPhil, serves as Lead Consultant Forensic Clinical Psychologist at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. With over 25 years of clinical and research experience across forensic mental health, criminal justice, and law enforcement systems, she bridges academic theory and frontline practice.
Her research critically examines personality disorders (particularly psychopathy), violence risk assessment, and violent extremism, with pioneering focus on gender-responsive methodologies. She investigates how trauma history and gender identity influence risk factors, challenging traditional gender-neutral assessment tools through empirical analysis of female and non-heterosexual offender populations.
Dr. Logan actively translates research into practice through professional training, notably her program on Diversity Issues in Violence Risk Assessment which addresses formulation techniques for gender-specific scenarios. Her current scholarly work includes co-authoring a revised edition of 'Managing Clinical Risk' and a violent extremism handbook with internationally recognized collaborators, demonstrating sustained contribution to forensic psychology literature.
