Caroline Locher-Lo is a Sessional Lecturer at the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice within the Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia. She received her PhD from UBC's Department of Educational Studies in 2020, following her Master of Education in Justice, Law and Ethics from Simon Fraser University and MBA in Finance from Eastern Washington University.
Her research spans critical areas of social justice scholarship, with particular focus on intersectional analyses of power structures. She examines how racialized inequality, gender relations, classism, colonialism, and imperialism intersect within educational and social contexts. Her methodological approach combines qualitative research with critical pedagogy frameworks.
Locher-Lo has taught multiple courses across the GRSJ curriculum including Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice in Literature (GRSJ 224A), Intersectional Approaches to Thinking Gender (GRSJ 300), and Critical Racial Theories (GRSJ 315) across multiple academic terms from 2023 through 2025. Her teaching demonstrates consistent engagement with decolonial and anti-racist frameworks.
Her academic journey reflects a transnational perspective, having completed her bachelor's degree in Taiwan before pursuing graduate studies in Canada. Her interdisciplinary background bridges business, education, and social justice studies.
