Caroline Levine is the David and Kathleen Ryan Professor of Humanities in the Department of Literatures in English at Cornell University, affiliated with the School of Criticism and Theory and the College of Arts and Sciences. Her work bridges literary theory, cultural studies, and climate justice, emphasizing the role of form in shaping political action and societal structures. She is known for her influential books on narrative forms (*Forms: Whole, Rhythm, Hierarchy, Network*) and climate activism (*The Activist Humanist*).
Research interests include ecocriticism, postcolonial literature, Victorian studies, and infrastructural justice. She has been a leading voice in Cornell’s successful endowment divestment campaign and advocates for humanities-driven solutions to global challenges.
Her accolades include the MLA’s James Russell Lowell Prize and the Perkins Prize. Levine teaches courses on climate communications, narrative theory, and Victorian literature, including *ENGL 4795: Climate Communications Capstone* and *ENGL 6155: Theory and Analysis of Narrative*.
Her recent scholarship explores literature and precarity, institutional reform, and the intersections of climate crisis with literary form. She contributes to public discourse through articles in *The LA Times*, *PMLA*, and *Inside Higher Ed*.
